The start of the year is often seen as a time to make conscious efforts to do something, or try something new. My New Year started early, on the 27th of December 2024 when my son arrived 12 days early! As you’d expect, everything else takes a bit of a back seat from there on in. I found it also put me in a bit of a “taking stock” place of reflection.
I have always wanted to champion our hobby and help to celebrate it in the public domain rather than days gone by of my youth, where you’d probably not want to broadcast it too loudly for fear of being bullied etc. What I came to realise is that whilst I am all about narrative gaming and painting for enjoyment, not competition etc, that I hadn’t really taken stock of some of my favourite model forces and collections.
This will be one of the first pieces I hope to do, looking at some of my collection in the hope that unfinished projects might be inspired to get going again and finally get completed – something I tell pretty much everyone, I am pretty poor at.
Heresy Miniatures Trenchcoat Gang
Waaay back probably at least 10 years, if not 15, I was in the gaming wilderness a bit. My most revisited game over the 30 years I have been rolling dice, is Necromunda. Those who have followed the game over that time will know official support was cut in the early 2000’s and quality old sculpts were replaced with newer ones that appealed to me far less.
At some point, Heresy Miniatures released a Trenchcoated model that had a passing resemblance to the old Delaque gang. Over the years I have used them in all sorts of miniature agnostic games and some of my own brewed up rules whilst at the same time slowly growing the gang.

Looking back at these models, I am very happy with how they look now. I have repainted some as my painting has improved but I feel they tie together nicely. I have more to add, mainly to add more options but in some ways it’s just an excuse to paint more of them and be able to play more varied miniature agnostic games with them as well as Necromunda.
The enjoyment I have had with these long coated trouble makers far outweighs the price I have paid for any of the models. Andy has done a fantastic job with them and I am absolutely grateful for him having produced them.
Hopefully you’ll see more of them in the not so distant future as I work on expanding their numbers.
